In 2015, Ed Maginnis and Karl Gwaltney reached a $72,000.00 resolution in arbitration against an automobile finance company that unlawfully attempted to collect debt from a customer, including failing to account for a monthly payment. By failing to account for a received monthly payment, the finance company remotely disabled the vehicle, reported the client’s account to credit reporting agencies, and repeatedly engaged in harassing attempts to collect debt that they had already received. We reached a settlement approximately one month before the arbitration hearing in the matter.
