Garrett L. Davis

Garrett’s practice includes employment discrimination suits, contract disputes, and construction litigation.  He also assists property owners with land use, eminent domain, and nuisance related matters, and is admitted to practice in all North Carolina State Courts.

Prior to entering law school at the University of North Carolina, Garrett was a City Planner for the Town of Chapel Hill for six years.  While at Carolina Law, he worked at the Durham City Attorney’s Office and for a civil litigation firm in Charlotte. Before coming to Maginnis Law, he served as a judicial clerk at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

He and his wife Jessie live in Durham.

  • Obtained full settlement and release of claims for two employees in non-compete dispute with their former employer.
  • Successfully resolved dispute between homeowners and their property owners association regarding the improper assessment of association fees.
  • Obtained 100% of disputed claim’s value between client (a freelance visual design contractor) and the prospective defendant without the need for litigation.
  • (Hileman v. FIPA) Wage and Hour – (KG/GD) Obtained $30,000 settlement in Wage and Hour dispute between a vice-president and his former company.
  • Successfully negotiated a lease dispute between tenant-client and landlord, resulting in the client not having to pay for four months of rent.
  • Rock Grading, LLC (GD) Obtained $38,000 settlement for a contractor in construction payment dispute with owner of a residential subdivision
